PFCC improves outcomes, both measured and perceived. Patients experiencing PFCC are more likely to share and recommend their experience to others.
A Real World Example: PFCC for Total Joint Replacement (TJR)
- Length of Stay - Average length of stay for TJR patients was 2.8 days (3.9 national average) and 2.7 days (5.0 national average) for total knee replacement and total hip replacement, respectively
- Discharge - 96% of patients are discharged directly to home (29% and 23% national average for total knee and total hip replacement, respectively)
- Acute Care Pain Assessment - 99% of patients reported pain had no impact on ability to perform post-surgical physical therapy, including therapy started the same day as surgery
- Physical Therapy - 93% of patients were walking without hand-held assist at discharge from hospital
- Patient Satisfaction - Press Ganey Survey mean overall satisfaction score of 91.4; Internal survey shows 71.1% of patients reported no nausea after surgery, 98.3% of patients reported their care to be excellent or good, and 99.7% of patients would refer others
- Operating Room Efficiencies - Mean time for patient in room to next patient in room for total knee replacements (n=84) was 116.4 minutes (range=99-156 minutes); mean time for patient in room to next paitient room for total hip (n=58) was 113.6 minutes (range=102-138 minutes)
